Here's a Quick Tip for those who found their iPhoto Library ruined, making iPhoto unresponsive or even crash.
When starting iPhoto (6 or newer), hold Command + Option until you see this window. Then you can choose between a few rebuild options. Select the ones that fit your needs.

This will fix your library making it as good as new.
